Celebrating CEHSP History
On April 2, 1895, Minnesota Governor David. M. Clough signed legislation approving the creation of the State Normal School of Duluth. This normal school, with its express purpose of training teachers, was the foundation on which the University of Minnesota Duluth was built.
The College of Education and Human Service Professions is at the core of this 125-year legacy. We've come a long way since that one-building campus, 10 faculty members, and an initial class of less than 100 young women. But the academic practice of placing education at the forefront and ensuring we prepare students to be critically reflexive learners and practitioners remains critical to what we do in CEHSP.
Our alumni are now spread across the state, the region, the country, and the world. They are educating, leading, serving others, and making a difference. We invite you to join us in celebrating our rich history in 2020 and in looking forward to a better future together.
