Why did you choose UMD?
I chose UMD because I loved the environment and felt that all the professors wanted to support the students to have success in their education. Specifically, the master's program in communication sciences and disorders allows students to participate in on-campus clinicals in the first semester and prioritizes learning through experience and courses.
Also, the location is a plus! There are lots of activities to do outside in the area and fun restaurants, coffee shops, and stores to visit!
What do you like most about your program?
The positivity and support from faculty and other students within my program along with the clinical experience I received are my favorite parts of the program! The faculty are engaging in courses and they really do want the students to learn and succeed in their education and future employment.
What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?
I had the opportunity to attend and present my research at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention! During this time, I learned from others presenting, gained connections, and explored the city of Seattle with others in my cohort!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I ran the 2024 Grandma’s Half Marathon! The longest distance I ran before signing up was three miles, so why not do 13 miles, right?!
