Student spotlight: Bryce Pettit

Meet Bryce, a senior double majoring in physical education teacher education and public health with a concentration in school health education.

Why did you choose UMD?

I chose UMD because of the great physical education program and I really enjoy the city of Duluth.

What do you like most about your programs?

My programs have taught me so much about teaching and education. I feel like I’m prepared to get a job teaching students and I’m so grateful for my experiences at UMD.

What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?

Last semester, I taught a dance class to PETE (Physical Education Teaching Education) majors. I was able to get real hands-on teaching experience that will help me teach physical education in the future. It was great to be able to learn so much and build some great relationships along the way.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Enjoy your time in college! The four years go by so quickly and the relationships you build will last forever.

What do you like to do in your free time?

My favorite activity is playing pickup basketball in the RSOP gym with my friends. I also enjoy lifting weights and being outside on the golf course.
