Meet Assistant Professor Matthew Lauritsen, a new faculty member in the Department of Psychology.
When did you start at UMD?
What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy helping and interacting with students.
Why did you choose to work at UMD?
I lived in Chicago for 10 years and it was a chance to come back to my home state after graduation. Working at UMD also allows me to continue my research as well as teach.
What advice do you have for psychology students?
Learning statistics and data analysis will go a long way. Also, don't worry about deciding exactly what you want to do for a career right now--it may feel like you have to figure it out now, but you really don't.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I play the violin!
