Bio

Dr. Jessica Hanson has a PhD in Community and Behavioral Health from the University of Iowa's College of Public Health. Prior to coming to UMD in 2019, she worked in research with American Indian communities in the Northern Plains to develop, implement, and evaluate public health interventions. Specifically, she is an expert on the prevention on alcohol-exposed pregnancies with preconceptional American Indian women and works on an intervention called CHOICES. Dr. Hanson is a mixed methods researcher and has published both qualitative and quantitative papers. She also has interests in engaging undergraduate students in community-based research.
