March 2, 2017

The Department of Social Work is pleased to announce the accreditation of their Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) Program, effective immediately.

The program’s recent accreditation is reflective of a 3 year process that all new Social Work programs undergo, facilitated by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).  Last year, while in candidacy for accreditation, the program graduated their first cohort of BSW students on May 7, 2016. Last year’s graduates are currently attending MSW programs or working in the field. The second cohort of 30 students will graduate this May.

The BSW program, a hybrid program consisting of online and face to face classes and an intensive internship experience, prepares graduates to work in a variety of settings, including residential treatment centers,  substance abuse and mental health programs, child welfare services, school social work, and community organizing. The program has strong connections with the American Indian communities in the area and coursework has a special focus on working with American Indians in social work practice. The BSW program gives students a foundation of the knowledge, skills, and values of the social work profession. Graduates with a BSW degree can complete their Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree in one calendar year. For further information, please  contact:
