Approval and Licensing
The UMD Department of Education and CEHSP Accreditation, Licensing & Field Experience office at the University of Minnesota Duluth completes on-going program and unit level review with the Minnesota Professional Educators and Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) to ensure program approval for all teacher preparation programs. The Minnesota PELSB works directly with the Educator Licensing at the Minnesota Department of Education to grant licensure to teacher education program completers.
The Department of Education is required to complete a Program Effectiveness Report for Continuing Approval (PERCA) process every three years with the Minnesota Professional Educators and Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). This includes a review of course curriculum, alignment to PELSB standards, and program data.
