Lake Dziengel brings to the graduate classroom extensive experience in academia and social work practice with various populations in multiple settings in the Twin Cities. Lake's background is in mental health, and medical social work, particularly with the LGBTQ community. Lake is teaching advanced practice, social work and mental health, and has also taught policy, research, and topics courses, specifically on grief, loss and coping. Areas of research are: ambiguous loss, older same sex couples, gender identity development, grief and resiliency, and anti-oppressive social work practice.
