Why did you choose UMD?
I specifically came to UMD for their Center for Regional and Tribal Child Welfare Studies. UMD has a great selection of courses and training specific to increasing my knowledge in this field.
What do you like most about your programs?
My classmates and professors have been really supportive (they’re social workers). Hard work feels less burdensome when shared with friends and laughter.
What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?
I had the honor of being a guest at the Summer Institute in Indian Child Welfare at Leech Lake. The stories/lessons shared with me here I will never forget. Secondly, playing Hedbanz in Carina’s Mental Health Practice with Children and Youth class
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Be kind to each other, communicate with your teachers, and be gentle with yourselves.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Free time?? Spend time with my family, cider/bingo nights, go for a hike, or binge-watch something good while eating all the snacks.
