Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

About our Program
The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program is dedicated to teaching students how to apply academic and research concepts to the realities of clinical practice. Students choose UMD's Communication Sciences and Disorders Program because it offers the courses, clinical experiences, and the individualized instruction needed to help people with communication disorders.
Up-to-date courses reflect current needs in the profession are available, such as courses in assistive technology, child language disorders, dysphagia, motor speech disorders, speech science instrumentation, and stuttering.
In addition to rigorous academic coursework, undergraduate and graduate students participate in clinical education experiences, learning as interns under the guidance of clinical instructors in the Robert F. Pierce Speech-Language-Hearing clinic and affiliated internship sites.
