Dual Degrees

Dual Degrees - Psychology with Sociology or Criminology

The following arrangements pertain to dual degree majors in Sociology or Criminology AND Psychology:

  1. Both the Psychology Department and the Sociology-Anthropology Department have a research methods and data analysis requirement. For Sociology or Criminology majors, this is covered by SOC 2155 and SOC 3155, for a total of 8 credits. For Psychology majors, the required courses are PSY 3020, 3021, and 3022, for a total of 12 credits.

Since there is some overlap in these courses, dual degree majors should take one of the following options:

    Option A

    • SOC 2155 Introduction to Research Methods and Analysis, 4 cr
    • SOC 3155 Quantitative Research Methods and Analysis, 4 cr
    • PSY 3021 Experimental Design and Methodology, 4 cr
    • PSY 3022  Applied Methods and Measurement, 4 cr

This totals 16 credits. Except for very unusual circumstances, the Sociology courses should be taken prior to PSY 3021 and 3022.

     Option B

    • SOC 2155 Introduction to Research Methods and Analysis, 4 cr
    • PSY 3020 Statistical Methods, 4 cr
    • PSY 3021 Experimental Design and Methodology, 4 cr
    • PSY 3022 Applied Methods and Measurements, 4 cr
