Overview
The UMD Early Childhood Studies programs are designed to promote safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments to ensure that all children reach their full potential.
Students choose from three Early Childhood programs all focusing on birth through third grade:
- Unified Early Childhood Education (UECH) (licensure)
- Early Childhood Studies (non-licensure)
- Early Childhood Studies Minor
Current research in the field of child development and education emphasizes the importance of early investment in quality programming for young children and families.
The Early Childhood Studies programs and services are framed with the belief that every child deserves to live without adversity, every parent needs to be supported, and every early childhood professional is prepared and empowered to assure all children reach their full potential.
