Professional Interests: Claire earned her Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Education, with an emphasis in developmental learning sciences (child development) and participatory research methods. She has previously served as a community organizer and worked in social and environmental justice nonprofits. Since 2022, Claire has co-designed and co-facilitated a professional learning community that supports early childhood educators in deepening their professional practices through intentional & respectful engagement with Indigenous peoples and perspectives. Her areas of interest include: nature-based early learning, land-based education, Indigenous education, and the ways in which those educational approaches are impacted by, and adapt to, the climate crisis.  

CEED Roles: Interim Director of Graduate Studies for the Master of EE Program; Graduate Faculty in Master of EE Program; Undergraduate Faculty in Department of Applied Human Sciences including Childhood Nature Studies and Outdoor Learning and Recreation Programs.
