Sara Lien, MSW, LISW, received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2010. Her social work career has focused on reducing health disparities for international and immigrant communities in Minnesota. In her work in refugee resettlement, she managed health and mental health programming, and supported BSW and MSW students in the role of Field Supervisor. Sara joined UMD in October of 2018 as the Associate Director of Field Education, and in this role assisted students and agencies in making social work field placements successful experiences. Now as Field Director, Sara works to support students, agencies, and field educators in making quality field placement experiences that prepare students to enter the social work profession with confidence and skill. Sara's community work has concentrated in the areas of immigration policy and immigrant rights, as well as environmental advocacy. She enjoys exploring the beautiful North Shore by hiking, trail running,and camping with her husband and spirited dog, Sunna.
