In March 2025, Julie Long started as CEHSP's accountant. Her position is based within UMD's Office of Budget & Analysis.
Why did you choose to work at UMD?
Working for UMD has been a dream of mine. My mom served the college for 40 years in ITSS and always spoke highly of her experiences with UMD, so when I got the opportunity to follow in her footsteps, I jumped at it.
What do you like most about your job?
I really enjoy working with everyone in CEHSP and OBA. Every day brings on a new challenge and an opportunity to grow and strengthen in my career. I also really enjoy the culture and diverse communities we serve.
Do you have any advice for students?
Live each day to the fullest! Manage your time wisely and don't procrastinate. Take time for yourself and enjoy the college experience.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends. My kids are actively involved in hockey and RC [radio-controlled car] racing, so we are busy year-round with RC events and hockey jamborees. I also enjoy camping and spending time at our family cabin. Specific hobbies would include kayaking, hiking, reading, music, puzzles, bingo, and diamond art.
