Dr. Jena Berryman Ogston found the University of Minnesota Duluth to be a perfect fit combining her passion for learning and love for the outdoors and sports. She graduated in 1993 with a degree in Exercise Science. In 1996 she received her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Mayo Medical Center’s School of Health Related Sciences and immediately continued into a doctoral program at the University of Minnesota.

Jena worked as a physical therapist in a sports medicine setting for 7 years prior to accepting a full-time position in the College of St. Scholastica’s Physical Therapy program while also serving as a volunteer physical therapist for the US Nordic Ski team. Shortly thereafter, she completed her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Minnesota with a focus in shoulder biomechanics and quantitative research methods.

Off-campus, Jena is active in the Minnesota Physical Therapy Association, presenting occasionally at state conferences and serving as a member on the Research Committee and as a reviewer for the Journal of Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy. In 2007, Jena was inducted into the Academy of Advanced Item Writers through the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and was also awarded Duluth News Tribune top 20 under 40. She is the current program director of the Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program which strives to educate physical therapists both nationally and internationally.
