Anthony (he/him/his) comes to the University of Minnesota-Duluth from the University of Missouri, where he received his PhD in social work. Anthony's research focuses on LGBTQIA2S+ populations and their engagement with law enforcement, correctional systems, and gender-affirming healthcare. Anthony borrows from feminist and queer theorists and scholars to inform his research with LGBTQIA2S+ populations. Anthony also was a clinical social worker for the past 5 years in Missouri, working in mental health and private practice settings, and brings that clinical expertise to Minnesota. He works with queer individuals seeking gender-affirming care, as well as individuals presenting with depression and anxiety disorders. Anthony has experience using TF-CBT, motivational interviewing, strengths-based work, exposure therapy, and CPT. Anthony is also Level 2 Gottman trained and has experience working with monogamous and ethically non-monogamous couples. Anthony is excited to share his passion for social work in the classroom and use strengths-based and relational teaching methods to enhance student learning in the classroom.
