Staff spotlight: Caleb Weiers

Meet Caleb Weiers, program coordinator for the Boulder Lake Environmental Learning Center.

When did you start working at UMD?

I started as an intern in 2019, but officially got hired in 2022.

Why did you choose to work at UMD?

I enjoyed my time as a student at UMD and wanted to continue working in the area with a job that helps out in the community and supports environmental education.

What do you like most about your job?

The beautiful nature out at Boulder Lake. Being able to call the outdoors my office is a blessing.

What advice do you have for students?

Stop to smell the roses and live in the moment. College is a fun and exciting time but can go by pretty quickly if you rush through every day.

What do you like to do in your free time?

My favorite days are when I get to relax and read a book in a hammock, but I also play a lot of video games as a way to connect with my friends that live out of state.
