Staff spotlight: Liz Urbaniak

Meet Liz Urbaniak, business operations manager at the Tribal Training and Certification Partnership

When did you start at UMD?

As a student in 2011. I graduated with a business degree in 2016 and worked in different industries around Duluth, but eventually found my way back to UMD!

Why did you choose to work at UMD?

The work our staff and team of community trainers at the Tribal Training and Certification Partnership do is so, so important. I am thankful I get to work with such an amazing group of people dedicated to improving outcomes for American Indian families and tribal nations.

What do you like most about your job?

I love seeing the connections our trainers make with their audiences, and, ultimately, seeing those connections turn into better outcomes for indigenous families. Being a support in the background of the amazing work that's happening at the TTCP is extremely fulfilling.

Do you have any advice for students?

Be kind.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Hike, mountain bike, snowboard, Liverpool soccer, and watch my 1-year-old daughter experience the world!
