Staff spotlight: Bonnie Williams

Meet Bonnie Williams, the office supervisor for the Department of Psychology

When did you start at UMD?

In February of 2019, I started working as the office supervisor in the Department of Psychology.

Why did you choose to work at UMD?

I had wanted to work at UMD for some time. I was living in north central Minnesota and for many reasons, I wanted to be in the Duluth area. I also wanted the opportunity to utilize my newly earned B.A. degree in business management.

What do you like most about your job?

The variety of duties keeps my job interesting. No two days are the same. The highlight is working with the students and getting to know them. Their enthusiasm is refreshing.

Do you have any advice for students?

Push yourself to try new things – go outside your comfort zone. You will learn so much about yourself and life in the process.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Rock hunting, hiking, relaxing by any form of water, which is plentiful here in Duluth. Lake Superior, Chester Creek, and Hawk’s Ridge areas are some of my favorite places to explore with my 8-year-old grandson. I would like to travel more, especially cross-country road trips. There is so much to see out there!
