This study suggests that transactional leadership can act as a “double-edged sword,” such as how contingent reward can foster LMX (leader-member exchange theory) but hinder empowerment, whereas management by exception can foster empowerment but hinder LMX.

Viann N. Nguyen-Feng, assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, and her colleagues published “Childhood maltreatment predicts daily stressor exposure in college students but not perceived stress or stress reactivity” in the Journal of Counseling Psychology. Nguyen-Feng and her colleagues also published “Web-Based Perceived Present Control Intervention for Voice Disorders: A Pilot Study” in the Journal of Voice.
