Meet Christine Schilling, an instructor in the Department of Psychology

When did you start at UMD? 

January 2008. 

Why did you choose to work at UMD? 

I resonated with CEHSP and the Department of Psychology's mantra of "making a difference in the lives of others."

What do you like most about your job? 

Being able to learn new things along with the students. Making changes in the classroom that positively impact students' learning and engagement. Watching students develop the ability to think critically and work collaboratively.

What is your research focus? 

Pedagogy and intercultural knowledge and competence.

Do you have any advice for students? 

Find comfort and inspiration in the fact that faculty are very invested in your success. 

What do you like to do in your free time? 

Travel, travel, and travel! Also gardening and painting.
