Major/Minor:

Majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Early Childhood Education

Why did you choose UMD?

I chose UMD for its speech pathology undergraduate program. It was a perfect match for me with the smaller class sizes, a wide selection of minors, and many volunteer and career opportunities. UMD even has a communication sciences and disorders club which I thought was super cool! I also like how close UMD is to the north shore, which is one of my favorite places to go.

What do you like most about your programs?

I like the smaller class sizes and the amazing professors. I feel as though my major has its own community here at UMD and having a club that works within the program is a great resource.

What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?

My most meaningful experience so far has been getting a student job at the on-campus Robert F. Pierce Speech-Language-Hearing clinic. This job has allowed me to not only see how my future career could look as a speech pathologist but has also helped me take a look into the speech pathology graduate program here at UMD.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Your teachers and their office hours are a great resource. For harder classes, study groups really are helpful. Lastly, and most importantly, make sure you find time for yourself and do the things you enjoy.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy hiking (especially along the north shore), reading, sewing, drawing, Nordic skiing, traveling, and visiting my family and friends back home.
