Find your friends

There are lots of student orgs and clubs on campus. Get involved! The Knit Wits have fun and make cool stuff.

Knitting needles clang together, as balls of yarn unravel, students claiming their favorites. This is the atmosphere at a Knit Wits meeting.

Knit Wits welcomes members who want to learn how to knit and/or crochet, improve their skills, or simply come to have a good time with friends. Knit Wits also completes at least one charity project per semester as a large group.

President of Knit Wits Emily Ferrier, a senior studying exercise science with a minor in psychology, joined Knit Wits because a friend of hers was already in the group. Emily says her favorite part about going to Knit Wits meetings is the people she spends time with there and the lifelong friendships she created.

“The group's members make our meetings so enjoyable and allow for us all to hang out, have fun and take a break from everything that's going on in our lives,” says Emily.

She emphasizes that the whole group is so supportive and no matter one's skill set, “we encourage everyone as a whole to learn more and create beautiful pieces of craftsmanship together.”

As president she explains that she has learned so much about herself as well as what it means to be a leader. It has helped her learn, “how to handle all the responsibilities that come with being a manager of a group of students.”

Knit Wits meets at 7 pm every Tuesday night, in the RDC 335 room, also known as the Gooseberry Falls Room.
