Hi everyone! My name is Jaz Finlo and I’m a senior here at UMD!

I am a double major in psychology and cognitive science. I have had so many great experiences and opportunities here at UMD, from meeting great faculty, to working on research labs, to studying abroad last summer!

Currently, I work at Essentia Health as a Behavioral Health Technician on the psychiatric units and emergency department. This has been a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in psychology dealing with mental and behavioral health. My favorite area of psychology is research-specifically in the area of cognition. I worked as a Research Assistant for the Shine Research Team, and am currently a research assistant for the Neurocognitive and Emotion Lab. I am also conducting an undergraduate research study (UROP) this fall, am interested in teaching psychology, and am a teaching assistant for a 3xxx level Physiological Psychology course. I enjoy sharing my passion of studying the mind with others! After graduation, I plan to attend graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology with a cognitive neuroscience focus.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy exploring the North Shore and spending time with my sister. I also am a part of the UMD cheerleading team, and I love spending time at practice with my teammates!

If you have questions regarding the UMD psychology program, study abroad, research, being a TA, or psychology entry level careers, I would love to help! I can also help with specific courses such as Abnormal Psychology, Cognition, and Statistics!

I look forward to meeting you!
